First day, July 27th, 2006
Hello folks and welcome to my first attempt at this crazy thing they call "blogging." To me, this is really a journal, but I have to go with the times. I am still gonna call this Joe's Journal.

I have been asked by many people I have met over the years to write a daily journal about my "Forrest Gump-like" life, and although this has taken some convincing, I have finally decided to try this. This also gives you a chance to be "heard" through this website. I will tell you that everything will be screened before it is posted, so Victor Spampanto, (who has been trying to get even with me for years for kissing Patrice Halpin in 1st grade) your evil letters/emails will not be posted!

I will give my views on Rock & Roll, our great troops, FDNY and other firefighters, Cliff Russell (sorry Cliff), outstanding Americans I have met, the cost of gas, my four lovely daughters, great food recipes, and whatever else is on my mind. I'll also tell some stories when ever the urge hits me, but please remember, these are MY VIEWS only, ... this isn't anything important.

I want you all to know that my new version of the 101st Rock Division is the best band I have ever been in. Tim Scruggs, who joined me for the "FDNY Firefighter Stephen P. Russell Memorial War Tour" in 2004, that performed in Iraq and other dangerous places, is back and sounding better than ever.

My old high school chum and most-excellent bassist, Mike Gorman has joined the band. Mike and I have always wanted to work together since we were 14, but Mike took off right after high school with Pezband and then Off Broadway, and I was with Jade 50's ... finally we get to work together.

Frank Capek, who in my humble opinion is the one of the greatest guitarists in the world, will be back in October. Some of you may remember Frank when he was with LoveCraft, others might have seen him when he toured with blues great Muddy Waters, while still other might remember Frankie when he was with The Kind. In 1995 Frank and I worked together with my newest version of Jade and finally we are back together and rockin' once again.

While Frankie is working his way in, his shoes are being filled by Chicago rocker Tom Repetny. Tom is really great and perfect for the 101st RD.  Tommy is also radio superstar, Mancow's producer and has some great Mancow stories.

On keyboards I traveled to Outer Mongolia and found two very talented musicians. (Actually, Frankie told me about them living in the Chicago area, I gave them a listen and was just blown away!) Chinba is a very talented keyboardist/vocalist, who seems to have a feel for Rock, Jazz and Blues, ... he is also a college graduate with his major being "concert piano." From what I understand, in Mongolia, he is a music icon. At the first rehearsal Chinba brought his long time best-friend and lover Sarnai. Sarnai showed Chinba some of the things I was requesting, almost like a translator, she played and sang so well that I asked her to join the group. We now have 6 out of 6 singers and some awesome musicians. Please check the "TOUR DATES" and come out and rock with us.
