As most of you know, I backed Illinois 6th District Congressman Peter Roskam last November. It was the first time I really got involved in an election campaign and I loved every minute of it. I backed Peter because I have known him for years and I trust him. It has been my experience that Peter walks the walk.

So may times you hear of a Freshman Congressman or women or Senators, "selling out," and moving to the money and padding his or her own pockets for personal gain. I am proud to announce Peter didn't sell out the troops like others in his party are starting to do, ... he is a man of his word.

ROSKAM STATEMENT ON IRAQ SUPPLEMENTAL SPENDING BILL

Washington, May 11 - Congressman Peter J. Roskam (R-IL) issued the following statement today opposing the Democrat's Iraq Supplemental (Round 2):

"Today Congress once again failed to support our troops and failed to show any sense of fiscal responsibility with taxpayer dollars.

"This bill provides U.S. troops with less than half of the requested funding while fully funding over $16 billion in non-war and non-emergency spending. This unconscionable bill blatantly shows the Democrat's priority of pork-barrel projects over winning the War on Terror.

"Partisanship should stop at the waters edge, especially when it comes at the expense of the brave men and women in uniform. However, this majority has placed partisan grandstanding above standing with our troops in support of victory.

"I will continue to oppose measures that undercut our troops and undermine our national security."

Peter Roskam is who we thought he was and is doing exactly what he said he would. So far so good.

Peter, ... keep making us proud and thank you for supporting the real freedom fighters in the field. They need all the support they can get, ... especially these days when they are fighting a war on two fronts!
