As have most of us, I have been watching and waiting for the "Troops Support Bill"  vote from the US Congress and US Senate. The vote is in, ... and the real winners are the American people!

This is not a "Republican" win or a "Democrat" loss! I hate the way the media is spinning this. This is not a huge blow to the Democratic led House and Senate! ... It's a huge blow to terrorism. This is not a huge victory for President Bush and the Republican minority, ... it's a huge victory for the troops and citizens of the United States of America.

In my humble opinion, to back out now would be cowardly. If this spending bill is not passed, all Brave Warriors, who fought and died in Iraq and Afghanistan would have died for nothing!

The media's questions to President Bush at the press conference were mostly asinine and disrespectful. Putting the leader of the free-world through that kind of idiotic Q & A is an embarrassment.

In the end; the overwhelming support for the spending-bill shows our enemies that we are together again, (for the most part,) and we will keep fighting until they are defeated.

Our friend and brother Congressman Peter J. Roskam (R-IL) issued the following statement;

"After 4 months of political posturing by the Democratic majority, I am pleased to have supported a clean Iraq War Supplemental. Precious time has been wasted in getting these resources to our servicemen and women, a move that has been irresponsible.

"This legislation makes sure our troops will have the money they need to accomplish their mission abroad, and remain ready to protect us at home without an arbitrary timeline for withdrawal. While surrender timetables harm our troops, benchmarks that do not tie the hands of our commanders will put pressure on the Iraqis to do their part.

"The benchmarks contained in this bill are an important tool to put pressure on the Iraqi government without continuing to delay funding that negatively impacts our forces on the field. As a cosponsor of H.R. 1062, which proposed similar benchmarks for progress in Iraq, I strongly support the accountability provisions included in today's bill.

"While this funding bill is long overdue, on this Memorial Day we will remember the brave men and women who have served our country in defense of freedom and we honor them by continuing our nation's pursuit of liberty."

President Bush made the point; " ... if people think our enemy will stop the spread of their ideology just because America withdraws our troops, ... those people are naive."

AMEN!

To our elected officials in Washington DC: Thank you. I slept a little better last night. I know our troops did too.

To the elected officials in Iraq: You have been given the most incredible gift; Freedom. Keep stepping up and keep fighting. As the French helped us at the birth of our nation, ... America and the coalition are helping you. Eventually you will have to go it alone.

President Bush is expected to sign the bill this Memorial Day, ... how fitting.

God bless America, ... and may God bless our great Armed Forces!
