The Troops Deserve More Credit, ... And They Aren't Getting It

FLASHBACK: APRIL, 2007 - A month after the troop surge was approved and funded, America's coward, Harry Reid, stood defiantly behind a bank of microphones and said; "The war in Iraq is lost, the troop surge is failing!"

Most of America did not believe Reid, not even his own party backed him, and the funding and the extra troops were sent to Iraq.

SIX MONTHS LATER, OCTOBER 2007: New York AP; Fact - violent deaths of US troops and Iraqi citizens is sharply down.

Max Boot, a former editorial editor for the Wall Street Journal and currently a senior spokesman for the Council on Foreign Relations said; "I assume it's happening because the surge is working, and working even better than those who advocated it envisioned."

Last July, USMC Gunny Eric Jazak wrote to this blog from Iraq (Letters From The Frontline) and told us how the surge was working and how Eric and his Marines were using the surge to their advantage. Eric told us how they are now working with the Iraqi's, who understand, if they don't step up, they'll never win their freedom. The Iraqi's have had a hard time trusting the coalition, but are giving "trust" another chance, and it seems to be working.

Our troops, our military leaders, The US Senate and Congress and President Bush deserve a pat on the back. The press should be all over this incredible success story by supporting the troops and cheering them on to victory ... but they aren't, yet most of them claim to support the troops!!!! If you say you support the troops, and you don't do a damn thing to show it, you are not supporting them.

Sgt. Darrin Domko, US Army (two tours in Iraq) had a great suggestion; Darrin said, "when you see an office or a home with a sign that reads 'We Support The Troops,' stop in and ask them what they do to support them." I'm sure you'll find some great stories and some creative ideas of how to support, but you'll also find phoney's who say one thing but actually do nothing. The troops are just not getting the credit they deserve.

Who are these troops anyway? They are your neighbor and friends, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces and cousins. They are fathers, mothers and plain-old-average-America's who stepped up to fight terrorism. They are not asking for anything, ... not one thing. Jesus Christ said, " ... there no greater love, than to give your life for your fellow man." They are giving of themselves for all of us. Shouldn't the papers we buy, the television news we watch and radio programs we listen to thank them? Shouldn't the press run a story about the "troop surge success" and thank them, ... shouldn't this incredible story be front page news?

The stories were certainly front page when chicken-shit-Harry Reid was crying doom. When President Bush's popularity slips, those numbers are all over the news. When a troop is killed, that makes the news, ... but anything tied to actually winning the war, and defeating terrorist in their backyard, away from America soil, is found in the back of the paper or on the Internet.

Ignorant-Congressman David Obey (D-Wisc, and an obvious graduate of the Harry Reid School Of Asinine Sound Bites) had a golden opportunity to thank the troops, but instead said “One of the reason we’ve had incidents of violence, sectarian violence go down is because they are running out of people to kill.”

What an a awful message to our troops. This pompous, self-absorbed dolt might as well have said; "The troops had nothing to do with the lack of violence, we were just lucky, ... that's all."

As far as I know ... there are still about 25,000,000 people still in Iraq Obey.

On the other hand, House Majority Leader, Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) said that the troop surge, has had a significant impact on the situation in Iraq and noted that he had always been critical of the Bush administration for deploying an insufficient number of troops in previous years.  He said, “Stability and a decrease in violence, they’ve done that - God bless them. I’m not surprised that they did." Hoyer "get's it!" He sees it clearly, ... why can't others?

It's obvious that the troop-surge and funding is working. Our troops are bringing peace back to the neighborhoods of Iraq and "bad guys" are being wiped-out. I have even read a quote from one of our military leaders that said; "al Qaeda has been eliminated from Iraq."

FACT - Iraqi's who left home a few years ago, are returning to their neighborhoods in large numbers. Businesses are starting to flourish in the street-markets and the Iraqi people are stepping up.

The troops deserve more credit. If you agree send an email to the editors of your favorite news outlet and ask for some troop support, let's all ask our press to start giving them what they deserve.

God bless our great troops!

What a great entry Joe. I am embarrassed to be represented by some of our Democratic officials here in Wisconsin. I want this war over just as bad as the rest of them, but undermining what our great troops are doing over in Iraq is not going to end this war. It fuels the fight in our enemy to try to outlast our will to fight. Nobody likes war, for God's sake I have to watch my brother leave for Iraq just like the rest of our military families. We tremble at the fact that they are going to a war zone, but are also relieved that men and women are brave enough to answer our call to defend freedom.

These terrorists know that they can not stand and fight face to face with our military, they would be extinct in a matter of days. That's why they are limited to small attacks by means of IED's and car bombs. And they take out innocent civilians in the process to try to win the propaganda part of this war. AMERICA, THAT IS THE ONLY WAY THEY CAN WIN, WHEN WE LOSE OUR WILL TO FIGHT. And our Democratic leaders are aiding them in that effort.

Bill Clinton had 10 separate terrorist attacks on American interests while he was in office. 10!!!!! He did nothing to stand up to our enemies and let them know that America will not stand for that. Whether one likes or hates Mr. Bush, he has told the WORLD that we will turn our backs no more. And I thank him for that. I will stand and fight for our troops here on the homefront, no matter who I offend in the process, because they stand and fight with their lives, so I don't have to. God Bless America and her Defenders.
