I read the below letter and decided that it should have it's own entire page, instead of a comment, or a footnote to yesterday's blog. I put myself in Keith Maupin's shoes and I want to make sure I give Keith all the respect and help that he and his incredible family deserves.
I know I would not be as kind, humble and persistent as the Maupin's have been, so after reading the below note, and crying for a few minutes, I copy and pasted Keith's letter and made it a "new entry," and maybe, if Matt Maupin's name happens to be "googled," by someone in Iraq, or buy someone in the Pentagon, somebody somewhere will give this more attention, make this case a priority, search for Matt, find him and bring him home.
As the yellow ribbon magnet on the back of my SUV reads, "Love Never Loses It's Way Home." That magnet was sent to me by Keith Maupin.
My friend Kim Busch wrote me the other day and said that after speaking with Keith, he is is starting to believe that everyone is forgetting about Matt, or even worse, ... nobody cares.
To Keith, ... I love you brother and can't imagine what it's like, knowing in your heart that your son is alive and suffering as a POW in Iraq. I believe you and I believe there is a connection deep in your heart to Matt's heart, ... that's how you know Matt is alive.
God said that when more that one are gathered in his name, prayers are better heard. Let's all pray together and help get Matt home to his family.
Keith writes;
Joe,
Thanks for remembering Matt. I know he is sitting somewhere in Iraq and wondering why they haven't come for him yet. I believe Matt will continue to hold his own until he is found. He will not give up. I hope he knows that we love and miss him very much and we are coming for him. He is my hero.
We ask that all say a prayer for Matt that he will be found and brought back home and that he will be able to walk off that plane that brings him here. We are truly appreciative of the support that we have received and all the prayers that have been said for Matt.
Matt has a website www.mattmaupin.us. If anyone would like to know just how long it has been. There is a counter at his site.
We would also ask that you visit another site. www.knowyourenemysports.com
All the proceeds from your purchase of this shirt that is allocated for the Yellow Ribbon Support Center is going to be used to continue the search for Matt and the other missing soldiers in this conflict. 100%.
Help us find Matt and bring him home.
God Bless you and may God continue to keep Matt in his hands. God Bless America.
Till they all come home,
Keith Maupin
Proud Dad of SSG Keith Matthew "Matt" Maupin.
