                   ROCK & ROLL PATRIOT

On March 28 and 29, Chicago-based entertainer Joe Cantafio; with a little help from his friends, will appear at the Skokie Theatre. The two-night acoustic concerts are fund-raisers to help subsidize Cantafio and his band, The 101st Rock Division, before they return to Iraq, Afghanistan and other Middle-Eastern regions later this spring to entertain American and Coalition Armed Forces.

Entertaining on the frontlines are enough for some entertainers, but it’s just the beginning for us. When we returned from entertaining our great troops in 2004, I felt that we could have done much more if we had been properly funded. Thanks to Congressman Peter Roskam, (R-IL 6th Dist.,) we brought flags from over 40 cities and villages to the war-zone, and handed those flags to troops from those towns.” Cantafio said. “Cliff Russell, brother of lost FDNY firefighter Stephen P. Russell, asked the troops to sign American flags, and those flags now fly in New York firehouses, but with the help of more Americans we can really make a difference.”

This time around, Cantafio and his band have really done their homework. They are planning on delivering hundreds of care-packages, powered drinks, Girl Scout cookies, Boy Scout microwaveable popcorn, hot sauce, hard candy, sunglasses, special orthopedic canes to frontline MASH units and hospitals and electric guitars will be given out at each show. But the giving doesn’t stop there.

Cantafio said, “When I talk with our troops about service to their country, or combat, they are always confident. Then when I ask them what they plan on doing after their service is complete, they look back at me like a deer in the headlights … and that has to change.”

Cantafio, and his team at Patriot Entertainment are putting together a “directory” disguised as a Concert Tour Book. Yes, there will be stories and photos of the band suitable for autographs, but the tour book will also contain vital information for the troops such as specially designed jobs programs sponsored by Monster.com, Military.com, Robert Half and Associates, Helmets to Hardhats, Connect-Vets and more. The book will list special Veteran education programs available throughout the country. The troops need to know about free health and medical programs and the book will list many. Cantafio said the book will also contain messages of support from large and small corporations as well as families and military support and service groups. Professional sports teams are stepping with photos of their star athletes, signed with supportive messages. Patriot Pinups will also be a part the tour book and will feature a recreation of the Vargas Girl-Pinups, popular during World War II.

Skokie and Northwestern Illinois residents may remember Joe Cantafio & the 101st Rock Division from last year’s show-stopping performance at the 1st Annual Backlot Bash or Cantafio’s tribute to Skokie First Responders at Memorial Park for the past four-years. (He’ll be back at Memorial Park this coming September.)

Joe Cantafio & Friends, at the Skokie Theatre, will be the “kick off” concert before the overseas tour. Joe will tell stories and perform tunes that he and his band will be performing on the frontline. Joe will also be joined by a few of his band mates and “Rock Star” friends who have performed with him over the years.

The Skokie Theatre is located at 7924 North Lincoln Ave. Show time is 8:00 PM.  Parking is free. For tickets call 847-677-7761 or visit Click here: The Skokie Theatre Music Foundation

      Hey there, Joe.

Looks like this is open to the public. My friend, Sue, already has tickets to be in Chicago that weekend (she's going to a show on Saturday evening). I would have loved to attend, but, unfortunately, it's tax season and I can't get away. Maybe she'll go and "represent" New Jersey. In the meantime, next payday (next week) I would love to make a donation "for the cause"...
