As some of you readers know, I met one of the greatest soldiers in Iraq in 2004. Not only is Darrin Domko an outstanding soldier, serving two long tours of duty in Baghdad but he is one gifted vocalist.

We met Darrin performing at "Camp Martyrs Monument." He was sitting in the front row, singing every single song in our show. I remember Jon Brant saying to me, "I hope you know all the words tonight because that Sgt. in the front row does."

After the show I introduced myself, and I met the soldier with the biggest smile I have ever seen, Sgt. Darrin Domko, US Army. I asked him why he didn't jump on stage with us and sing along. When he found out that was an option, his heart sank. Then I made him a deal ... "Darrin, when you come to Chicago, I promise you can be part of the band." He has taken me up on this offer for the past two years.

On Sunday, August 3rd, 2008, The Singing Army Sergeant, Darrin Domko will be performing with us, Joe Cantafio & the 101st Rock Division, at Augustfest 2008, located on the ground of St. Zachary's Parish located at 567 West Algonquin Road in Des Plaines, Illinois. About 5 miles West of O'Hare International Airport. Showtime is 7:00 PM

This year Darrin and his beautiful (hot) wife Keri will introduce us to their brand new baby daughter Nora (named after Darrin's late-great mother.)

Darrin will be on stage the entire evening singing background vocals, but during the middle of the show, Darrin will take center stage and make you proud you are an American. I'm telling you, this guy can sing, but he'll charm you as well!

I hope to see a lot of American's there.
