"Cooks For A Cause" Needs HelpThis entry was posted on June 19, 2008 2:43 PM and is filed under the troops. Cooks for a Cause was established by five-Robert Morris College students that formed a team to walk in the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Walk in 2007. As a team, they raised over $13,000.00 for breast cancer research.
After that event, three of the team members wanted to continue the tradition of helping, supporting, and sponsoring other charitable organizations. In 2008, Cooks for a Cause became a permanent asset to Robert Morris College and the Institute of Culinary Arts at Robert Morris College and have recruited a membership of almost twenty students. They now have the support from countless faculty members and staff at the college. Their mission states: Robert Morris College Cooks for a Cause, strives to continue the traditions of helping, supporting, and sponsoring organizations or groups that do so much good for society as a whole. We vow to encourage others to serve wholeheartedly and give selflessly through the passion of food. In 2008, Cooks for a Cause has decided to sponsor the Family Readiness Group, who provides support for soldiers and their families before, during, and after the soldiers serve their country overseas. "We are sponsoring the Family Readness Group that supports the 634th Echo Co. out of Joliet, Illinois," Said Brad Hindsley, President of the Robert Morris College Cooks for a Cause. Hindsley and his group are sponsoring a variety of events for the families and the soldiers, over the next couple of months until they are deployed. Specifically, they are preparing a pre-mobilization meal for the soldiers and their families on Sunday, August 10, 2008. The meal will feed almost 800 people, all of this happening just days before the troops deployment ... and they need your help. Cooks for a Cause is looking for monetary, food, equipment rental , transportation rental, and labor donations in order to produce a meal for the soldiers and their families as a "gift" to our troops for all of the commitment and support they provide for this country. All donations made to Cooks for a Cause are tax deductible. You can help by making a donation.
