Let The Change BeginThis entry was posted on January 20, 2009 9:47 AM and is filed under freedom. Inauguration Day is finally here. I have watched nine-Presidents take the oath of office and this is the most excited I have ever seen America, and rightly so. This truly is a historic event. I didn't vote for President Obama, but I had a very patriotic/Veteran father who taught us all (my 10-brothers and sisters and me) that once the election is over, American's should "get behind" their new president. Honestly, it isn't taking me that long to begin to support Obama. In this time and age in American history, I couldn't think of better person to unite all American's and I'm not sure John McCain could unite and electrify this country like Obama has. This reminds me of Beatlemania, people are just going crazy. Millions have showed up to welcome him and celebrate this new era in American history ... even my daughter Kim drove through the night to Pennsylvania, and then hopped a train to DC early this morning, just be a part of history in person. Kim voted for President Obama. After a few days of parties and TV specials and concerts it will be time for business, and I do NOT envy President Obama. I cannot remember a time in history when our country was being torn apart like it is now. We are at war on two fronts with a third front creeping into view. Our economy is hemorrhaging as the government keeps printing money to heal the wound ... let's hope it's not throwing more gas on the fire, and let's not forget the world energy problem. Now mix in unemployment, Veterans issues, global-warming (if you believe in that) and the bail-out of America's "big three" auto manufacturer's, and you have just been elected to serve at the worst possible time in American history. The more I look at the economic problems, the more I see thieves and greed as the basic problem. I commented to my youngest daughter in November .... "I'll bet we'll find all sorts of crooks now; ... 'investors' and brokers who have been stealing money from their clients, and huge corporations who have totally mismanaged their companies." My daughter thinks I'm so smart, but if you look at history, you'll find that when the market goes south, it becomes an enema for corruption and mismanagement, and many crooks are flushed from the system and into prison ... where they belong. Just watch, there will be more to come. I'm praying for Obama to be the leader and uniter American needs in a very grim and dark hour. His job is going to be very hard and honestly, if he is the smart, articulate, bi-partisan person most American's believe he is ... he will go down in history as one of our best presidents. I am beginning to have a bit more pride at the fact that he comes from Chicago ... and with all the crooks and thieves we have home-grown here ... I pray Obama is the exception to the norm. To President Bush: Thank you sir, for giving your life to America. You weren't elected to do the work that you were called upon to do. Yes, mistakes were made, but all in all, you led our country the best way you knew how and for the most part, our country will be a better place for your presidency. You always had class, never commented on your many nay-sayers, and always focused on the positive and kept us safe after September 11th. Enjoy your well deserved retirement. To President Obama: Good luck, we are all counting on you. Make us all proud. God bless America. |
