WHAT: The Army's 234th Birthday Celebration

WHEN: Thursday, June 11th, 2009 at Noon.

WHERE: Daley Plaza, Chicago, IL

WHO: Honored Guests including Mr. Dan Grant, Director of Illinois’ Department of Veterans Affairs, Medal of Honor recipient Mr. Allen J. Lynch, our featured speaker Command Sergeant-Major William P. Lindo, The 85th Army Band, the USO of Illinois hosting Gold Star Family Members, musical performance by Joe Cantafio and attendance by Miss Illinois-Katie Lorenz, and supporters of our Military.

WHY: 234 years ago, your United States Army was established to defend our Nation. From the Revolutionary War to the Global War on Terror, our Soldiers remain Army Strong with a deep commitment to our core values and beliefs. This 234th birthday commemorates America’s Army – Soldiers, Families and Civilians – who are achieving a level of excellence that is truly Army Strong both here and abroad. Their willingness to sacrifice to build a better future for others and to preserve our way of life is without a doubt, the Strength of our Nation.
