Hollywood Music Producer Paul Broucek (Oak Park & River Forest High School - Class of 1970) and I (OPRFHS Class of '73) were honored by our high school last year, and inducted into the OPRFHS Tradition of Excellence (Hall of Fame.) We joined the ranks of some great Oak Park Huskies; writer Ernest Hemingway, McDonalds creator Ray Kroc, actors, May Elizabeth Mastrantonio and Dan Castelletta (Homer Simpson), and Marjorie Vincent, Miss America-1991.

Paul is the musical genius behind the music from the "Lord of the Rings-Trilogy," " Austin Powers," " Sex & the City," and "Apocolyps Now" to name a few of the movie music tracks he produced. Me ... I'm still scratching my head on why I was inducted. (I bet a lot of other Huskies are too!)

Last year Paul and I were treated like "Kings" for two days, when we returned to our high school for a formal dinner in our honor, and two school assemblies to speak (and entertain) the entire student body. While we were walking through the school with the members of the OPRFHS student body, a light bulb went off in my head, when I heard Paul tell the music department director that he would be glad to come back and do something at the school.

Paul and I talked a bit and I began to reach out to fellow OPRFHS rockers and before long, we had a very cool concert planned for our school.

FRIDAY - OCTOBER 9 - DOOPERFEST (Dooper is a word that stands for "dear old Oak Parkers")
7:30 PM
Oak Park and River Forest High School Auditorium
Starring ~ The SARF's - JADE 50's - PEZBAND - OFF BROADWAY - Joe Cantafio & the 101st ROCK DIVISION - PAUL BROUCEK - and featuring the award winning OPRFHS Orchestra and the OPRFHS Choir.

I must admit, the meetings so far have been just a blast. Talking with Kevin O' Brian (SARF's) Cliff Johnson and Mike Gorman (Pezband and Off Broadway) and of course getting back together with my Jade 50's buddies. I know we'll be stopping off at Russell's for beef sandwiches, probably head to Salerno's Pizza after a rehearsal, but the real fun will be performing at our school and raising money for the OPRFHS Alumni Association, The Huskie Booster Club and the Gary Olson Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Tickets went on sale last week and from what Maureen from the Alumni Association told me, they are selling!!!!

The show is open to anyone who wants to come. Most Huskie's know that there are only 1,700 seats in the auditorium, so buy your tickets NOW ... we are talking about adding another night if Friday sells out. We have heard that tickets are being bought from as far away as England, for a few Huskie's who have moved abroad, but are making their way back to Oak Park for this show.

If you'd like to buy your $15.00 ticket online now ($5.00 for any student with ID) go to ----> http://oprfhs.revtrak.net/tek9.asp?g=products&grp=67&sess=eaf35179b50b341bd2be29f2a9aa167a

There will be a few surprises ... Some guest star Huskie's who are coming back to M. C. the show and a fun night for everyone!!!!
