What began as a dream is becoming a reality. “The Heroes of Freedom Memorial” is dedicated to all men and women that have honorably served in Iraq, Afghanistan and the War on Terror. The two acre site was dedicated in April, 2005, construction started September 2005. The idea for the Heroes of Freedom Monument came from Kirk Morris, who was approached by the Village of Gurnee to eulogize the memories of his son and the many others who have sacrificed their lives during service to their country in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Joe Cantafio & the 101st Rock Division

USO Entertainers, Joe Cantafio & the 101st Rock Division have entertained American and Coalition Troops on the frontlines of Iraq, Kuwait, Africa and other dangerous places. Their 2004 World Tour was highlighted by a performance on the steps of Saddam Hussein’s Baghdad palace. The band performs everything from “The Who,” “Tom Petty,” and “Toby Keith” to “The Beatles,” “Lee Greenwood” and “Kansas,” with a few of Cantafio’s original songs sprinkled in for good measure.

Mellencougar

The band is made up of a group of musicians from the Illinois/Wisconsin scene. Their appreciation of the music of Heartland U.S.A. and specifically John Cougar Mellencamp helped to create the band and gain the respect of many venues, fans and musicians.

Geoff Pinkus & the Pinker

AM560-WIND radio personality Geoff Pinkus brings his new band, “The Pinkers” out to play for the first time. Geoff and his radio-team on the hit radio show “Livin Large” have been friends to Troops and Patriots; particularly Kirk Morris and the “Heroes of Freedom Memorial” and Geoff will also serve as the evening Master of Ceremony. Kirk Morris said, “… with ‘The Pinker’ involved, this should be a night to remember!”
